After nearly 8 months of work, the short film adaptation of John Keats’ infamous poem ‘La Belle Dame Sans Merci’ from VALULOID was unveiled to audiences for the first time on the 20th of February 2025.

The premiere saw the attendance of all cast and crew involved on the project with countless other attendees coming in support of the film.

The Event started with Michael Velykorodnyy, Director and Producer of ‘La Belle Dame Sans Merci‘ congratulating and thanking the talented cast and crew for their involvement in the production of the film. Michael then gave some backstory into the purpose and inspiration for the film, stating:

“[La Belle Dame Sans Merci] was originally taught to me and many others in GCSE curriculum, and like many others, I had a very difficult time understanding or even connecting with the ideas that are expressed in poetry due to linguistic barriers, or lack of comprehension skills. But when I rediscovered the poem… I came up with the idea to create a short film… so that students like me back in 2022 could have a visual aid… connect with poetry in a more immersive format.”

After the 17 Minute long film had finished, audience members took to letterboxd to review the film, with one audience member writing:

” A great representation of the Poem with beautiful videography throughout the whole thing! “

Another stating that it was “Fun to see Keats on the big screen”.

La Belle Dame Sans Merci (2025) is now available for pre-order on Blu-ray and will be uploaded to YouTube after it has completed its film festival run.
